VMware extends VCP550D exam deadline again, provides VCP6 discount

VMware Education

VMware has just announced good news for many VCP’s and procrastinators alike by extending the VMware VCP550D Delta Exam from March 10, 2015 to May 8, 2015!

It seems VMware had some issues with the myLean system over this last weekend as well as some partners of VMware expressed concern that the initial deadline (Nov 30, 2014) and first extension (March 10, 2015) was not enough notice and asked for another extension so they (the partners) could schedule time to have their VCP’s re-certified.

If you haven’t taken the VCP550D exam yet, I’m compiled a list of topics to study in my VMware delta exam passed post.

Installing Windows 10 without using a Microsoft account

If you’ve installed Windows 8 or later you’ve probably noticed that Microsoft has been trying to push users to setup a Microsoft account and use it during the install process. Doing so gives users the ability to use OneDrive and sync various configurations and Internet Explorer (people still use IE?) favorites, settings, and history.

Since I use CloudStation on my Synology NAS and don’t care to use OneDrive nor did I want the Windows 10 test machines configurations sync’ed between them either.

How to setup NFS on Synology NAS for VMware ESXi lab

Synology

I’ve been asked several times how and why I setup my home lab to use NFS on my Synology NAS and thought a post detailing the steps would be best. First the why, when I purchased my Synology DS412+ about two years I recall seeing several people stating NFS was out performing iSCSI (like this post) on the Synology. It was strictly from reading other peoples findings that I started with NFS and have continued to use NFS without any issue. In fact I’ve been very happy with my DS412+ in a RAID 10 setup.

How I setup NFS on the Synology for my ESXi homelab is pretty simple as well.
